マルコ・ネレオ・ロテッリ
1955年ヴェネチア生まれ。
1982年建築課程を卒業後、現在、ミラノとパリを拠点とする。
ロテッリはこれまでの間芸術と他の知性の分野との間に揺るぎない関係性を築いてきた。ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレに７度参加。彼個人及び彼の関与したグループの作品は世界中の重要な美術館に多数収蔵されている。美術評論家だけでなく、詩人、作家、哲学者やインターナショナルな文化人が彼について述べ、コレクションを増やしている。

ご挨拶
2013年から3年間、GALLERY TOMO(ギャラリー知)は、イタリアのコモに位置する近現代美術ギャラリー、MAGと提携し、国境を越え、現代美術資産の相互交流を進めて参りました。この度、その交流をさらに発展させ、イタリア文化会館-大阪との共同開催という新しい形でアートプロジェクトを企画することとなりました。日本では10月初めから11月の終わりにかけて展開され、この間イタリアから3名のアーティストがシリーズで日本を訪れます。第１弾となるのは、〈言葉〉を形象化する現代の巨匠、マルコ・ ネレオ・ロテッリの展示。彼の作品が展示されるのは日本初です。また、イタリア・コモのMAG ギャラリーにおいてもロテッリ展を9月19日から先行して展示開始しており、続く形で京都の GALLERY TOMOで10月1日に、最後に イタリア文化会館-大阪で10月2日にスタートし、10月18日に３カ所同時の終幕を迎えます。3 つの異なる街で開催される今回の展覧会は、ロテッリが本プロジェクトのために特別に制作した〈光の鏡〉を通じ、文化と言葉をめぐって2つの大陸を一つに結びつけます。皆様は東洋と西洋の間につながれた一つの輪を目にすることとなるでしょう。ロテッリの展示から始まり、11月29日まで続く約2ヶ月の旅の行方が、どのような物語となるのか、現代を生きるアーティストの魂とともに感じていただければ幸いです。

コンセプト
マルコ・ネレオ・ロテッリが今回のプロジェクトで強く望んだのは、〈言葉〉が彼に示唆しつづけてきたイメージに注目し、そこに大きな表現力を与えること、しかし同時にそのイメージを象形や主題としては決して扱わないことであった。そのイメージから透けて見えるあらゆるポエジーは愛である。すべての酸のヴェールは絵であり、面から引き出された素材である。それはあたかも、いにしえのカンヴァスにおける現代のレンブラントといった様相を呈している。
伝統的な日本の扇子の美とかたちに強い刺激を受けたロテッリは、無地の紙と着色された記号（これはより多くの作品で反復され、全展覧会で姿を見せるもの）による14 点の作品と、鮮やかなカラーのフェルトを用いた14 点の作品を創作している。そこでは逆にデザインがシンボリックにして直接的であり、その彩色された線のなかへと深く没入する。
ロテッリの芸術上の探求にとって重要な契機となったのが、エクリチュールの概念に対するロラン・バルトのアプローチであることは間違いない。現代の記号学者であるバルトは、自らが「虚空の記号の倫理学」と定義するものに関する真の教えを、自身の日本での体験から得たと考えていた。事実、バルトは1969 年のインタビューで次のように明言する。「日本での旅は、わたしをとりまく知的環境のあり様をがらりと変えてしまった。（中略）それは本質的な意味で、まったく新しい記号の体験をわたしにもたらしてくれたのである」。
これは実際、コミュニケーションが日常的な現実のなかで再発見される場で生まれる思想であり、そのとき、多様な指示対象を背負いすぎた〈シンボル〉“シニフィアン”はたった一つの言葉によって、つまりシニフィエの単一性によって、自己の認識を失う。
ロテッリの出発点となったのはまぎれもなく、いまだに知られていないシニフィアンの秩序をめぐる論理的な考察である。
小さな鏡―わたしはこれをバックミラーと考えたい―の中で孤立した記号を用い、作家はシニフィアンとシニフィエのあいだの理想郷的なコミュニケーション空間をわたしの眼の
前に提示する。記号をとりまく虚空は、映し出された現実を再現していると言いかえることもできるだろう。
さらに別の言葉を用いるなら、これらの鏡は接点にほかならない。そこでは〈シンボル〉と〈言葉〉、〈記号〉と〈言語〉とが共生し、共鳴し、無二の現実をかたちづくるのである。

For the first time in the story of the three entities, we are producing an artistic project which is a journey, a sequence of openings, lighting spots where the “word” is a joining link between East and West.
A journey that begins in Como at MAG Gallery on September 19th with the first opening, to then go to Tomo Gallery in Kyoto on October 1st and finally to Osaka at the Italian Culture Institute on October 2nd. It will last till October 18th with the conclusion of all the three exhibitions.
An art show located in three different towns that connects two continents about culture and word through light’s mirrors that the Master Marco Nereo Rotelli especially created for this occasion.
A series of small steel foils which, like ideal windows, potholes or doors, have bright imaginary’s depth and words’ power between being and perceiving, between Italy and Japan. We are in front of an alteration of the mirror’s vision, as the modification of the mirror generates the alteration of the shape. There is an axiom, otherness is here identity.
In this project the Master Marco Nereo Rotelli deeply wanted to pay serious attention to the image that the word evoked him, applying a highly expressive energy but without making of it the main subject or representation. All poetry which emerges is love, each acid’s glazing is painting, cut off from the surface matter like a contemporary Rembrandt on ancient canvas.
Inspired by traditional Japanese fans’ aesthetics and shapes, Rotelli has created 14 artworks on plain paper with colored signs which repeat themselves in more works and spread in the whole exhibition and 14 artworks on bright colored felt, where, on the other hand, the design is symbolic, immediate, deep in its monochromatic line.
A very important moment for his artistic research was surely given by his approach to Barthes’ writing concept. Roland Barthes, theorist of the contemporary Semiology, considered to have got from his Japanese experience a proper education regarding what he defined “ empty sign’s ethics”.
In effect, Barthes during a 1969 interview, confirmed that “the travels to Japan remarkably changed the intellectual setting where I live, […] they essentially offered me a very new signs’ experience”.
Thought that effectively borns, where in every day reality you recover a communication where the Symbol, the signifier, overloaded of numerous references, loses its own one to a single word, to its meaning’s uniqueness.
Rotelli surely began from a consequent reflection about meanings’ unknown order. Through his isolated signs in small mirrors, that I should dare to consider like rear-view mirrors, the artist expresses, to my eyes, the utopia of a communicative space between signifier and meaning, this means that the empty space which surrounds the sign represents the mirrored reality.
In other words, these mirrors are connection points, a place where symbol and word, sign and language, coexist and represent an only reality.

福島第一原発から約10キロ圏内に位置する福島県双葉郡浪江町は、今も放射線量が高く帰宅困難地域である。震災当時を伝えるこの新聞は、浪江駅近くの販売所に、配達されずに放置された2011年3月12日と13日の新聞だ。紙面では、東日本巨大地震の規模の大きさや津波の被害、避難する人々の混乱した状況が記されている。中でも、福島第一原発一号機の爆発を伝える緊迫した記事からは、震災直後の生々しい記憶が蘇る。
あれから4年が経過した現在、日常から失われつつあるものは様々で、時が進むほどに薄れていく記憶の風化は止められない。しかし、私達の周囲の時間の経過、その動きを刻む行動、その知識に意味を与えるためには、社会に問いかけ事実をつなげる活動が必要だ。［2011312313］は、記憶=存在=認識を視覚化することで、現在も近未来の社会でも起こりうる危機的な現実が立ち現われてくる。

この夏より、7年目を迎えるギャラリー知は新たに『GALLERY TOMO CONTEMPORARY』として再出発致します。従来どおりのレンタルのサービスも『GALLERY TOMO』として継続しながらコマーシャルを中心とした部門を新設し、立ち上げ展示として福島いわきの現代美術家、吉田重信氏の展覧を致します。
個と個が繋がり線を帯びて拡がる社会において、様々な個性を発見することができます。現代に生きる個のひとりとして、ギャラリーとして、未来志向だけではなく、足元の現実も見つめて思考、表現していきたいと考えています。
本展は今までとは違い、11日土曜日から会期スタートです。月曜日は従来どおり休みとさせていただきます。17時からのレセプションも合わせてどうぞお運び下さい。

Among all the matter, according to cosmology although it accounts for 5 % of whole universe, we human has been finding many meanings and mysteries in the face. Like “Mona Lisa” by Leonardo da Vinci, Acephale by Georges Bataille, the face by Emmanuel Levinas and No-Face by Hayao Miyazaki, various efforts about the lack or the other in the face had already been conducted. It is gradually hard to have sincere emotion and express that directly because of the developed surveillance system, the chain of loneliness by too much individualism, the lack or saturation of the meaning itself and so on. In our living world such like that, perhaps you also have a face that you never show anybody or nobody knows. A man and a woman in this short movie is also losing their emotions. One day, however, Mr. PARASOL emerges in front of them and then the circumstances facing them changes completely. A parallel story with which a parasol connects. Hope you like it.
このたびYODOYAとギャラリー知は共同でこのゴールデンウェーク、ヨージ・コンドーの個展『パラソル』を開催いたします。今回上映する『パラソル』は、ヨージ・コンドーの初短編映画であり、顔を失ったすべての人へ贈るラブストーリーです。全宇宙の５％を占めると言われるマターの中で、これまで人は、もっともよく見ているもののひとつであろう顔という部分に多くの意味と謎を見出してきました。モナリザ(レオナルド・ダ・ビンチ)、無頭人(バタイユ)、顔(レヴィナス)、カオナシ(宮崎駿)など、顔に関する喪失や他者といったテーマはすでに、多くの取り組みが行われています。監視システムの発達、行き過ぎた個人主義による孤独の連鎖、あるいは意味の飽和や欠如などにより、私たちが生きる現代社会は、素直な気持ちを抱くことや、それを表に出すことがますます難しくなっています。そのような生活世界において、誰にも見せていない顔を持つ人は、決して少なくはないでしょう。本作の男女もまた、表情を失っています。しかし、バラバラだった二人の前にミスター・パラソルが現れることで、状況は一変します。パラソルがつなげるパラレルストーリー。ぜひお楽しみください。

Yoji Kondo (2013- YAP) is interested in a filter. It is based on his nature that he can’t communicate with anybody without a media. When he was a high
school student, though he had lived in Japan through his teenage, he didn’t hide his uncomfortable feeling. It becomes obvious by his video, that is, he
couldn’t leave his video camera in a school excursion because it was too difficult for him to talk to class mates without seeing them through the finder
( In”YAP 21” 2013, four works was installed including the video work). In this “PARASOL”, he adopted the parasol as a filter for connecting the two different
persons( parasol is a light umbrella used to give shade from the sun. para- ‘protecting against’ + sole ‘sun’ ) .

例年に引き続き、今期も大韓民国の大邱アートフェア2014にて、交流展“RED DOTS 3”が開催されます。
企画はGALLERY CAUTIONの浜田宏司氏、ギャラリー知の青山はブースディレクターとして参加いたします。
“RED DOTS”は、韓国のアート市場と日本からのギャラリーとの交流展です。
大邱アートフェア事務局は、これまで種々な形で海外のギャラリーとの交流を継続してきました。一昨年は、ヘイリ芸術村との交流展“Art Road77Art Fair-With Art、With Artist!”と、イタリアの新進作家を紹介する“Italian Way”の開催。
昨年の“RED DOTS 2”では、日本の展覧会で最も売れ、かつポピュラーな作家の作品を、各出展ギャラリストによる推薦という形で韓国のアート市場に紹介するという企画を行いました。

アジア、アメリカ、ヨーロッパからの芸術作品を、積極的に導入してきた活動によって今や大邱アートフェアは、韓国最高の国際的なアートフェアの一つとして評判が高まってきつつあります。
そして今年の“RED DOTS 3”では、すべての来場者とSNSを経由してコミュニケーションプログラムを準備しています。
参加ギャラリーは「平昌冬季五輪2018」を前に「美術市場の国際化」というテーマで、様々な国からのアーティストを招聘します。
すべての来場者は“RED DOTS 3”において、「アートと私と2018」というテーマでSNSを通じ人々と写真をシェアしたり、メッセージを書くことができます。
五輪が開催される2018年は、韓国の市民も積極的に参加するだけでなく、外国からの入国者、アスリート、政府関係者および関連労働者たち、多くの人々が韓国を訪問するでしょう。大邱アートフェア事務局、ディレクションに携わる私たちは、我々はこのコミュニケーションプログラム、“RED DOTS 3”が平昌五輪2018′のための貢献、そして、アートフェアの国際化を前に進める偉大なプロモーションとなることを願っています。

GALLERY TOMOは、イタリア、コモのMARSIGLIONE ARTS GALLERY（以下、MAG）との提携により、ミラノのアーティスト、Max Paeschi（以下、マックス・パペスキ）氏の展覧会を開催します。
マックス・パペスキは広範囲に認められているイタリア人若手現代アーティストの中でも中心的な存在であり、過去の評論では社会的に議論の的で政治的には無礼と言われるなど酷い否定もありましたが、世界の大箇所での沢山の展示で説明することで理解されるようになりました。
現在、作家としても活動しており、昨年の4月に彼の自伝“Vendere svatiche e vivere felici(ナチスを売りそして幸せに生きる)”が“Sperling &Kupfer”から出版されました。
いつも凄い皮肉で人々を驚かせますが、それは彼自身が近代、現代の歴史を熟知しそれを明らかにし、マスメディアのシンボルと歴史的なものを並べて、社会的、政治的問題を表現することでグローバルな社会に潜むネガティブな部分を理解してもらうというコンセプトに基づいたものです。
MAGはこのアーティストの個展を遡ること今年5月、サンフランシスコで展示を行い、続いて7月、コモ市役所の文化評議会の支援によりコモの2ヵ所（①San Pietro in Atrio (サン・ピエトロ アトリオ):via Odescalchi, 3 Como ITALY、　②MAG:Via vitani, 31 Como）で個展を開催しました。現在では9月8日からフランス・パリでも展覧会を開催している、世界中へ精力的なツアーを行っているプロジェクトです。
1年間をかけて世界を回ったこのプロジェクトの成果により彼の作品は世界中で認知されつつあります。
“A Life Less Ordinary”で再評価された“Magazine Life(マガジンライフ)”で表紙を飾った作品、“From Hiroshima with love”のモノクロ作品、消費主義の香りと犠牲“The Nightmare Before Nothing”、中でもとりわけ有名なバージョンのシリーズ“baby di Smile、Relax & Hate”、そしてシリーズ“La Sociètè du Spectacle”など列挙に暇がありません。
そして今回、マックス・パペスキにとって初めての日本での展覧会を京都のGALLERY TOMOで開催します。

After an experience as author and director for theatre, Tv and cinema, Max Papeschi starts with digital-art. As figurative artist his approach with Art-World was an immediate success among the critics and the public. His work Politically-Incorrect shows a globalized and consumerist Society and reveals in a realistic ironical way all the horror of this life style. From the Nazi-Micky Mouse to the Ronald McDonald Butcher the cult icons loose their reassuring effect and change into a collective nightmare. He has exhibit his works in many galleries around the world. and this moment is a his first time exhibition at Japan.

マーク・トーマス・ウォーカー（M T WALKER）はオーストラリアのヴィクトリア州マレー地方のビデオアーティストである。
彼はロンドンでの生活を経て（2008年迄）、メルボルンのビクトリア大学で、グローバリゼーションを研究。RMITで（優等付き）美術学士号を取得し、RMITで大学院の3年間の奨学金を得ている。
代表作ビデオ詳説は、2014年にメルボルンのラグランストリートギャラリーにてニューメディア賞を受賞した。‬‬
‪作品の特徴としてはビデオアートによって歴史的な学説と政治哲学の再文脈化を意図しているが、内容はそれぞれ無数の観客テーマごとに編集されている。
彼の持つ政治哲学の関心が専門性のある文学史研究によって補完され、芸術表現として成立する。
ACCA & NGVなどの会場で知名度の高いショーのインストールアシスタントとしての経緯があり、ウェブサイト”infx.com.au” では、舞台上映やエキシビジョンの内容を公開している。
そして現在、ローンフィルム、メルボルン国際映画祭（MIFF）のテクニカルコーディネーターを務めている。

ローマ字は西洋世界から発せられる言語を、淡く日本語での発音として表現したものだ。
この作品のアーティスト、マーク・トーマス・ウォーカーも彼のビデオアート作品は同様の動機から生まれていると感じている。彼の取り組みは、この日本、京都で彼の作品の鑑賞者に対し彼の表現する現代的なアジア政治理論を転写することにある。‬

Econasiaシリーズは、4年スパンの記録写真で、9つのシングルおよびマルチチャンネルビデオアート作品を網羅するプロジェクトだ。
Econasia：”Romaji”には北朝鮮、日本、インドネシア、及びマレーシアにおける人の手によるものと自然環境、その両方を調査した4つの映像作品が組み込まれいる。地域の社会的、政治的学説が関連付ける、いわゆる”Asian Century”へと導いた、経済的かつ政治的な影響が、政治学を物語る現代文学、音声、そして不自然な物語と織り交ざっている事を動画の中で表現している。‬

STATEMENT:
Romaji (ローマ字) is a term that defines the romanisation of Japanese
script to aid translation of that language into roman characters. The
term loosely describes the phonetic translation of Japanese language
to English (or romanised) languages emanating from the Western
world. This title is chosen by the artist as Mark feels that the production
of his video art works are born from a similar pursuit. This effort is to
transcribe his ideas of political theory in contemporary Asia to those
people viewing his works in Kyoto, Japan.
The Econasia series is a project that has spanned four years and
encompasses nine single and multi-channel video art works, with
accompanied photographs.
Econasia: Romaji incorporates 4 of these video works that investigate
both the man-made and natural environments in North Korea, Japan,
Indonesia and Malaysia. Local social and political accounts that relate
the economic and political influences driving the so-called Asian
Century are interwoven with modernist literature, sound, and contrived
narratives that depict political science in the moving image.
M T WALKER　PROFILE:
I am a Video Artist from the Mallee region of Victoria, Australia. I studied a
Bachelor of Arts in Globalisation at Victoria University, Melbourne before
moving to London where I lived intermittently until 2008. I have recently
completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (with Honours) at RMIT and am the
recipient of a 3-year scholarship to pursue a Master of Fine Arts (Research) at
RMIT. I was the recipient of the Raglan Street Gallery’s Excellence in New
Media prize in 2014, for my video Explicate.
I produce works that promote a re-contextualisation of historical account and
political philosophies; relating to the audience myriad thematic approaches
portrayed in the moving image. My interest in political philosophy and its’
application to artistic expression is complemented by my BA studies that
majored in history & politics. I publish the website ‘infx.com.au’, stage
screenings and art exhibitions, and have worked as an installation assistant for
high-profile shows at venues including ACCA & NGV. I am currently
employed as Technical Co-ordinator at Lorne Film and the Melbourne
International Film Festival (MIFF).

Gallery TOMO（京都）及びGallery CAUTION（東京）は、5月25日より大韓民国京畿道坡州市ヘイリ芸術村で開催されるアートフェスティバル『ART ROAD 77 2013』特別展【KYOTOKYO 2013】に参加しています。
ART ROAD77は、約1ヶ月間に渡って開催されるアートイベントです。ソウル近郊のリゾート地「ヘイリ芸術村」に点在するギャラリーやアーティストのアトリエが提携したイベントは、トリエンナーレ、ビエンナーレなどの大型アートイベントと異なり、全ての作品が販売される事を前提にしたユニークなエリア型展覧会です。若手アーティストの発表の創出や作品販売代金の一部を寄付に充てるなど、次世代に繋げるための施策を盛り込んだ実行委員会のポジティブな志へのリスペクトから協力と参加を決意しました。
日本を代表する都市「KYOTO(京都)とTOKYO(東京)」は、偶然にも同じアルファベット（K. Y. T. O）を同じ回数使う都市名です。しかし、ご存知の通り、この二つの都市を比較すると経済規模や社会的状況が大きく異なります。特別展【KYOTOKYO 2013】は、両都市で活動する作家の作品を同じ空間に展示する事により、日本の現代美術マーケットのアクチュアルな多様性と発展拡大の過程を海外の美術関係者にご覧いただき、新たなコレクターとのコミュニュケーション機会の創出を目的とした企画展です。
